650 Slot Barcode Card Reader
650 Slot Barcode Card Reader Bar codes are not only used on items, e.g. to identify goods, but also on cards, for example on member, loyalty or access cards. Those bar code cards are an interesting alternative to magnetic stripe cards, as they are easy to produce, low in cost and non-sensitive to environmental influences like strong magnetic fields or dust and dirt. The solution for easy reading of those bar code cards is the Jarltech 650 bar code slot reader series. This very compact unit has a bar code decoder integrated and thus is easy to implement into most software environments.
For connection to the host, there are two different versions available: USB or keyboard wedge, select the right version for your application. While the keyboard wedge version offers immediate connection to any PC and does not need any adaption of the software, for the USB version, you need to install a Windows driver provided on the CD that makes the unit work like a keyboard wedge version.
The integrated decoder automatically discriminates all common bar code types and decodes them before transimitting the data to the host.
Set up options easily by simply swiping the bar code card with the corresponding programming bar code. All programming cards are included.
The Jarltech 650 reads standard (visible) as well as infrared (invisible) bar codes. Infrared bar codes are mainly used for security applications. They are covered with a greyish-black film that is impenetrable for visible light. This means, the bar code is not visible for the eye and can neither be copied nor read with a normal scanner. As IR bar codes provide adequate copy protection, they are e.g. favoured for tickets, for security access cards and so on.
Both versions, USB and keyboard wedge, do not need an additional power supply, as the interfaces provide enough power for operation.
